About YLoYR

The new year of YLoYR has been established and we are actively planning the year's activities. Our goal is to transition the event portion from online to in-person and to get more people in York Region involved in our events. So stay tuned!

Project 5K & Ignite Fair Level Up

Project 5K is a non-profit youth-led organization that helps youth find a place to volunteer as well as increase the amount of volunteers at each event. Their goal is to make volunteer opportunities easily accessible to teens, helping them and their community improve.

Level Up, a virtual event, will be taking place on October 2nd from 1:00 - 4:00 PM EST. This thrilling event will feature workshops and interactive challenges about writing successful applications, building outstanding interview skills, and more. In addition, participants will get opportunities to network with youth leaders, participate in a live Q&A with prominent volunteers and non-profit executives, and more.

Ontario University Fair

Are you thinking about going to university? Unsure about where to go or what program to apply to? Then you don't want to miss this:

ONTARIO UNIVERSITIES' FAIR

When: October 1-2, 2022 from 9:30 am-5 pm daily

Where: Metro Toronto Convention Centre

The Ontario Universities' Fair is an annual event which promotes public universities in the Canadian province of Ontario. The first OUF was held in 1997 and has grown rapidly to accommodate more than 100,000 guests that visit over a three-day period.

There are no university presentations at OUF 2022. If you are looking for a similar experience, we encourage you to attend the virtual information sessions on October 11, 5-8 pm (ET), November 9, 5-8 pm (ET), and December 1, 5-8 pm (ET).

If you are interested, please register for your OUF pass. If you don’t have an OUF Pass, you will have to manually share your contact information at each university booth you want to receive more information from. Save time and register in advance so you can visit university booths as soon as you get to the OUF!

Oasis Zoo Run

The Zoo Run is a popular and family-friendly event and part of the acclaimed Canada Running Series. The 10K and 5K courses provide a winding tour of the Toronto Zoo including near constant views of the park’s wildlife, but be prepared for a number of hills. Participants enjoy exceptional event organization, race amenities and a family-friendly atmosphere as well as on-course support and entertainment. (Source: https://raceguide.ca/race/oasis-zoo-run/)

This year's Oasis ZooRun has been successfully held at the Toronto Zoo. The large number of volunteers made the event a great success. The participants also exceeded the fundraising goal. Looking forwards to next year's ZooRun!
