Throughout the month of February there were many campaigns and events launched across social media. A few notable ones include MMJC’s environmental campaign, Project 5K’s Project Valentines, and Youth Social Impact’s Feminist Panel Talk.
Firstly, Markham Mayor's Junior Council’s 7-8th graders launched a campaign about environmental awareness, containing information about what environmental awareness is, how to be more aware, and more. The MMJC is an organization that focuses on promoting the engagement of elementary students in their communities. For more information and campaigns, click here!
Project Valentines by Project 5K was an opportunity to give back and give thanks to front-line workers. Through this, they were able to deliver over an astounding 2,500 cards to 10 different organizations! The volunteers were able to make thousands of lives just a little bit better and demonstrate their gratitude for the front-line workers and their everyday contributions.
Finally, Youth Social Impact also had a great Feminist Panel Talk hosted by Celina Mankarios and featuring 5 incredible guest speakers: Heather Young, Chauncey Woods, Mercy Maddox, Cathelijne Blok, and Imaan Van Der Zwan. Each of these women took turns sharing their journeys, reflecting on various issues in society ranging from sexuality to inclusivity. For more information about each speaker you can visit Youth Social Impact’s Instagram page here.
A huge congrats to all campaigns this month; I’m sure everyone’s hard work and effort to help others will not go unnoticed! Stay tuned for next month’s post!
